Q. Can high school students check out books?

All high school students who are not accompanied by a parent or guardian, or who do not possess a Rice University ID must present a signed form upon entering Fondren Library. 

Visitors to the Fondren Library are eligible for borrowing privileges if they are affiliated with certain institutions. See our website for or a list of eligible Community Borrowers and guidelines.

If you are not affiliated with Rice University or any of the affiliate institutions, you can obtain borrowing privileges by joining the Friends of Fondren Library.  Annual fees for membership vary and can be found on the Membership Benefits Page.

Visitors have access to Fondren’s collections while they are in the library, including most our online academic databases. See our website for more information about visitor access.
