Due to space constraints, and the high cost of processing donated material (only a tiny percent of which is added to Fondren Library's collections), the Library is no longer able to accept most donations of books and other materials. Please consider one of the local public libraries that conduct book sales (Bellaire Public Library, 713-662-8160; Houston Public Library, 832-393-1387), used book stores, or charitable organizations such as Books for Africa or Better World Books. The Internet Archive also accepts donated books through mail and drop locations.

Occasionally, specialized collections of critical research value are offered to Fondren Library. The Library accepts such collections, provided that, in the professional opinion of the Library's staff, the materials are significant and relevant to the collections and academic programs at Rice University.  If you feel you have such a potential gift, please call 713-348-2621, and leave your name and contact information along with a description of the material.  You may also send this information by email to colldev@rice.edu or by regular mail to Collection Development, Fondren Library, Rice University, 6100 Main, Houston, TX  77251-1892.
