If the book you want is currently checked out by another patron, you can request that it be recalled. Navigate to the record and under the Get It section, click request. You will have to be logged in for this. Fill in the request form and click Send Request. You'll get an email once your item is available for pickup.

You can also request the item through Interlibrary Loan. Please make a note in the comments section of your request that you've already recalled the book, as most ILL requests for items we own at Fondren are disregarded. If the book is not rare, you should receive it within a few days. Only current Rice University faculty, students, staff and retirees with active NetIDs may request materials through Interlibrary Loan.

COVID-19 Update: The Fondren Library building is closed during this difficult time, with staff working remotely. Because of this, we are temporarily unable to process recall requests. For members of the Rice community, Interlibrary Loan is still available for borrowing electronic books and resources. if you do make a ILL request for an electronic copy of a book that is currently checked out during this time, please make a note in the comments section that you are unable to recall the item due to COVID.
