Visitors to the Fondren Library are eligible for borrowing privileges if they are affiliated with certain institutions ( sometimes with restriction by faculty or graduate level only). For a list of eligible community borrowers and guidelines, see our Community Borrowers page.
You are welcome to use our materials here and make use of the in-house scanners. You may also request a book through your institution's interlibrary loan program, if it has one.
If you are not affiliated with Rice University or the institutions listed above, you can still obtain borrowing privileges by joining the Friends of Fondren Library. Annual fees for membership vary and can be found on the Membership Benefits Page.
The public have access to Fondren’s collections while they are in the library, including most of our online academic databases. See our Visitor Information page for more details.
