All of our resources now are web-based. All web-based resources now are routed through the proxy (any exception was/is an oversight and is corrected when identified).
The only web-based resource not authenticated through the proxy is a specialized chemical research database (the users must apply, meet use criteria, be provided a software key, and then register for a personal account).
The proxy requires no action on the user's part ... except to login using their NetID and password. It requires no special software, accounts or updating on the user's machine.
While VPN may provide faculty and students access to other University resources, it no longer offers any enhanced benefit for accessing library resources.
