Q. Can I request technical reports through interlibrary loan?
HiI was searching for literature for my research and I found a few technical reports that I want to read. But they are not downloadable for free. So, I was wondering if I can request through the library. If so, please inform me about the procedure.
yes, you can request these reports through Fondren! Go to our ILLiad system (this is the software libraries use to borrow from each other) and login using your Rice NetID and password. On the left column are a variety of menu items - I'd suggest clicking on "Request a Book..." (they may be able to get a scan of the tech report, but the original may come in the mail).
You will get an email to your Rice email when the items come in.
If the lending library sends the original paper, you will come to Fondren's circulation desk (on the first floor, near the west entrance) to pick them up and check them out (you will need to return these originals so they can go back to the library that owns them).
If the library scans and sends the reports digitally, then you will log back into this same system (it will be in the notifying email) and download your personal PDFs from there.
