Fondren Library has a large collection of fiction, old and new.  However, because of the size of the library, it may be difficult to find what you are looking for.  Here are some hints.

Finding New Fiction

Fondren Library has two collections of current fiction:

  • the Friends of Fondren Fiction Collection and the
  • Leisure Reading Collection (which includes audio books).

Both are currently shelved on the first floor, facing the South Reading Room.

Browsing the shelves:

You can browse the shelves by looking in the following call number ranges:

Nationality Call numbers starting  Location
American            PS      floors 2 and 3
British and Commonwealth        PR  floor 3
Romance languages        PQ  floor 3
German        PT  floor 2
Russian/Slavic        PG  floor 3
Asian        PL  floor 3

These call number areas will include fiction in the original language and in translation as well as scholarly works about literature.
